WHAT TO DO RIGHT NOW
The First Hour After a Break-In
Do not touch the damage yet. Photograph everything before you move anything. The police report and your insurance claim both benefit from undisturbed documentation.
- Call the police. File a report before any repair work starts. The report number is required for most insurance claims.
- Photograph all damage. Every broken frame, bent latch, and torn strike plate. Wide shots and close-ups. This becomes your claim documentation.
- Call us. We arrive the same day in most Texas markets. If the door cannot be secured tonight, we board up and install a temporary deadbolt so you are not exposed overnight.
DAMAGE TYPES WE REPAIR
-
Split Door Jambs
Kick-force shears the wood fibers that hold the strike plate. Frame reconstruction is required, not just hardware replacement.
-
Broken Strike Plates
Short screws pull clean from the door frame under kick force. We replace with heavy-gauge plates and 3-inch structural screws into the king stud.
-
Splintered Frames
Decorative trim separates from structural framing. We repair or replace both layers so the door hangs true and seals against the elements.
-
Compromised Locks
Even an undamaged cylinder needs rekeying after forced entry. A key may have been taken. We rekey or replace every lock on the affected door.
HOW BURGLARY DAMAGE REPAIR WORKS
-
Assess and Document
We arrive, photograph all damage, and write a complete scope before touching anything. That documentation goes to you in writing. Your insurance adjuster will want this.
-
Secure Tonight
If the frame is too damaged for same-day permanent repair, we board up, re-hang the door, and install a temporary deadbolt. You are not left unsecured overnight.
-
Permanent Frame Repair
Return visit (same day or next morning) for full jamb reconstruction, strike plate replacement with structural screws, and any frame reinforcement you choose to add.
-
Rekey and Reinforce
Every lock on the repaired door is rekeyed or replaced. Optional reinforcement upgrades are offered at this point, with no pressure to add them.
INSURANCE AND DOCUMENTATION
We Itemize for Your Claim Adjuster
Insurance claims for burglary damage go smoother when the documentation is organized. We provide a written scope of all damage found on arrival, photos from our initial assessment, line-item costs for each repair, and a completion report with before-and-after photos. That package is ready for your adjuster before we collect payment.
We are not insurance adjusters and we do not guarantee claim approval. What we do is give you clean documentation that reduces the back-and-forth. Most adjusters ask for exactly what we already produce as a standard part of our process.
- Written damage scope on arrival, before work begins
- Timestamped photos for insurance documentation
- Line-item invoice suitable for claim submission
- Before-and-after completion photos included

WHAT OUR CUSTOMERS SAY
Someone kicked in our back door at 2am. Pros On Call was there by 4am, boarded it up so we could actually sleep, and came back the next morning to do the full repair. They brought paperwork we could hand straight to our insurance adjuster. The door ended up stronger than it was before. I cannot say enough good things about how they handled a really awful night.

BURGLARY DAMAGE REPAIR QUESTIONS
Does homeowners or renters insurance cover burglary damage repair?
Most standard homeowners and renters insurance policies cover the cost of repairing physical damage caused by a break-in, including door frames, jambs, locks, and strike plates. Your deductible applies. We provide itemized written documentation of all damage and repair work, including photos from our initial assessment and a line-item scope of repairs. That paperwork speeds the claim process. We are not insurance adjusters and cannot guarantee approval, but organized documentation helps.
Can you respond tonight after a break-in?
Yes. We operate 24 hours a day, 7 days a week across all Texas markets. If your door cannot be secured tonight, we will board up and install a temporary deadbolt so you can sleep safely while we schedule permanent frame repair. Call (888) 601-6005 any time.
Should I replace my locks or just rekey them after a break-in?
It depends on the condition of the cylinder and hardware. If the lock cylinder is undamaged and the door frame is solid, rekeying is enough. It changes the key that works without replacing the hardware. If the deadbolt latch is bent, the strike plate is torn out, or the frame itself is compromised, we replace what is damaged and rekey everything that remains functional. We assess each door before recommending.
What if the door looks fine but the lock was forced?
A lock that was forced open may look intact after the fact, but the cylinder or the thumb-turn mechanism may have internal damage that will not show up until the next use. We disassemble and inspect. If the cylinder is compromised, replacement is straightforward. We also check the strike plate and the screws holding it: most standard installations use 3/4-inch screws that go into the door frame only, not the king stud. Those pull out under moderate kick force even if the rest of the door is undamaged.
Do you reinforce doors during the repair?
Yes, as an option. Many customers choose to upgrade at the same time because the frame is already open for repair work. The most effective single upgrade is replacing the standard strike plate with a heavy-gauge reinforced plate secured with 3-inch screws into the king stud. Strike Master II and Door Armor kits wrap the full jamb and are popular in Texas urban areas where forced-entry attempts are more common. We can also install a restricted-keyway cylinder so that future key copies require authorization from us.
Will the door be as strong as it was before after the repair?
In most cases, stronger. A standard residential door frame uses a 3/4-inch strike plate with short screws that do not reach structural framing. After a forced entry, we rebuild the jamb and install reinforced hardware that was not there before. The repaired door typically resists kick-in better than the original installation. We back our repairs with a written warranty.
