HOW EMERGENCY KEY REPLACEMENT WORKS

  1. Call. Describe Your Keys.

We answer within 30 seconds. Tell us the key type: house, car, or commercial. We confirm coverage, quote the price, and dispatch immediately.

  2. Technician Arrives with Equipment

Your nearest licensed technician comes to your location with a mobile key machine, transponder programming hardware, and a blank inventory for most locks. Median Central Austin arrival: 14 minutes.

  3. Keys Cut, Programmed, and Tested

We decode your lock or look up the VIN factory code, cut new keys, program chip keys, and test every key in the actual lock before we leave. One visit. Working keys.

WHAT THE VAN CARRIES

No Original Key Required. We Cut from the Lock or the VIN.

Losing your last key means there is nothing to copy from. That is not a problem when your technician arrives with a cylinder-decoding kit and manufacturer VIN database access. For residential locks, we read the existing cylinder on site and cut a new key to the original depth specifications, not a worn-copy approximation. For vehicles, we pull the factory key code from your VIN, visible through the windshield, and cut the blade to manufacturer tolerance before programming the transponder chip.

Hill Country humidity accelerates pin corrosion in older Hyde Park bungalows and Barton Hills homes. If the lock cylinder is seized when we arrive, we assess whether lubrication, pin replacement, or a full rekey is the right call before cutting new keys. In most cases, fresh keys from a correct cylinder decode solve the problem without touching the hardware.

For Austin drivers stuck in a South Lamar parking lot or a Mueller garage, our transponder programming equipment covers domestic, Japanese, European, and Korean makes from 1995 forward. We carry key blanks for Ford, Toyota, Honda, GM, BMW, Mercedes-Benz, Hyundai, and more. Verification of ownership is required before we cut any key: photo ID for residential, registration or title for vehicles.

  • Cylinder decoding for residential locks when no original key exists
  • VIN key code lookup and transponder programming for vehicles 1995 and newer
  • Kwikset, Schlage, Yale, and restricted keyways stocked on every vehicle
  • Every key tested in the actual lock before we leave the site

EMERGENCY KEY REPLACEMENT QUESTIONS

How fast do you respond to an emergency key replacement call in Austin?

Our median Central Texas response is 14 minutes for calls within Central Austin. Round Rock, Cedar Park, and Pflugerville typically add 8 to 15 minutes via MoPac or I-35. We give you an honest arrival estimate before dispatch. Call (888) 601-6005 and we confirm your area immediately.

Can you cut keys when I have lost every copy?

Yes. We do not need an existing key to copy from. For residential locks, we decode the cylinder on site and cut a new key from that reading. For cars, we look up the factory key code from your VIN, cut the blade to manufacturer specification, and program the transponder chip if your vehicle requires one. Proof of ownership is required: photo ID matching the property address for homes, registration or title for vehicles.

Is emergency key replacement more expensive at night or on weekends?

No. Our rates are the same 24 hours a day, seven days a week, including holidays. A house key cut at 2 a.m. on Sunday costs the same as one cut at noon on Tuesday. Security emergencies do not keep business hours, and neither do our prices.

Do you cut car keys with transponder chips on site?

Yes. Our service vehicles carry key-cutting equipment and transponder programming hardware for most makes and models 1995 and newer. We cut the blade to factory specification from your VIN and then program the chip to your vehicle's immobilizer system. No tow to a dealership required. Some European luxury vehicles with proprietary protocols may require additional steps.

What key types do you carry blanks for?

Our vehicles carry blanks for Kwikset KW1, Schlage SC1, Yale Y1, Weiser WR5, and common mailbox keyways for residential use, plus automotive blanks covering domestic, Japanese, European, and Korean makes from 1995 forward, plus standard commercial and restricted-keyway blanks including Medeco and Schlage Primus with valid authorization. We cover 95 percent of common locks without a special order.

Can you get into a locked home or car first, then cut keys?

Yes. If you are locked out with no spare, we use non-destructive lockout techniques to get you back inside first, then cut replacement keys on site so you can secure the property immediately. Both services are handled in a single visit.

Do you serve Round Rock, Cedar Park, and other Austin suburbs for emergency key calls?

Yes. From our Central Austin dispatch we cover Round Rock, Cedar Park, Pflugerville, Georgetown, Leander, Kyle, Buda, San Marcos, and 36 Texas markets in total. Median Central Texas response is 14 minutes. Call us and we confirm your area immediately.

Is your technician licensed to cut and program keys in Texas?

Yes. Texas DPS Locksmith License #B19847. Every technician dispatched is employed by and insured through Pros On Call. We carry the license on every job and show it on request. We do not subcontract.
