Old Door Removal

Pre-hung unit is shimmed and secured with long screws into structural framing. Lockset, deadbolt, and weatherstripping are fitted and tested.

WHY INSTALLATION QUALITY MATTERS
A Door Is Only as Good as Its Frame and Fit
Central Texas clay soil settles. Hyde Park bungalows from the 1920s have frames that have shifted. New construction in Steiner Ranch and Pflugerville uses dimensional lumber that dries and moves. A door that fits at the hardware store may bind, gap, or leak air within a year if the installer does not account for those conditions.
Our technicians measure rough opening dimensions, check plumb and level with a 6-foot level, and assess the frame before any material is ordered. When the frame needs shimming, blocking, or a splice to accept the new unit, we do that work first. The result is a door that operates without binding and seals against a Texas summer without gaps.

It sucks they charge an inconvenience fee of 49.00. Which I wish you would have mentioned this on our intial call. Transparency would have been to say hey we charge an inconvenience fee. Never once was this mentioned. When we spoke with the representative all she said was the locksmith will call you with a price. Never once did she say we take your payment info so we can charge you an inconvenience fee. If that was mentioned then this would have been handled differently. She made it seem like we need a card on file to help. Then they attempted to debit my card twice for two separate transactions for 49.00. I understand you run a business. But transparency is key. I specifically asked her what I would be charged for never once did she mention this. Lesson learned. Update***she reached out in regards to my Google review. Although I attempted to resolve per phone call. Shameless.

I have been a customer of pros on call for like over 2 years about and have had to call on them about 6 times. I had used several other locksmith in the prior 15 years but once Roland , one of many these pros came over I never use sny other locksmith service. I am very happy with this company I usually asks for Roland because I know him best and I have developed a kinda professional friendship with him but you can't lose no matter who it is that helps you. I had Zach come out to the property that I purchased out in Luling, Texas. It’s about 10 acres, and it has a garage with a corroded lock. Out of all the companies I have called, which is roughly 5 to 6. He was able to take my call, head out the next day, and take care of the corroded lock I need fixed on my property. He was extremely professional and helped me by giving me instructions on how to operate the lock as well! DOOR INSTALLATION - FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
How long does a standard entry door installation take?
A standard pre-hung entry door replacement takes 2-4 hours from removal of the old unit to final weatherproofing and hardware test. Slab-only installations run 4-6 hours because the door must be mortised, planed, and custom-fitted to the existing frame. Complex jobs involving frame replacement, sidelights, or non-standard rough openings may require 6-8 hours or a second visit for trim and finishing.
Which door material is best for Texas climate?
Fiberglass is the best all-around choice for Central Texas. Hill Country heat and humidity swings (30% winter to 80-plus percent summer) warp solid wood and pit uncoated steel. Fiberglass holds its shape, carries an R-value of 5-7, and requires no repainting for decades. Steel is the next best choice for security-focused buyers who can tolerate periodic repainting. Solid wood works on covered porches and north-facing doors with proper sealing and annual maintenance.
Do I need a full frame replacement, or can you install a slab into the existing frame?
It depends on frame condition. If the jamb is plumb, square, and free from rot or settling damage, a slab installation saves $200-$500 over a pre-hung unit. If the frame shows rot at the threshold (common after sprinkler overspray), has previous break-in damage, or is out of square by more than 1/4 inch, we recommend a full pre-hung unit. We assess the frame at the start of every job and provide the honest call before any material is ordered.
Can you install a door in a non-standard opening?
Yes. Standard residential entry doors are 36 inches wide by 80 inches tall. For openings that differ, we can order custom-size pre-hung units from Therma-Tru or Masonite (2-3 week lead time, higher material cost), build a custom solid wood door to specification (4-6 weeks), or modify the rough opening framing to accept a standard door when making it smaller. Many Hyde Park and Clarksville bungalows have 32-inch or 34-inch openings from original construction. We handle them routinely.
Is your door installation team licensed?
Yes. Pros On Call operates under Texas DPS Locksmith License #B19847, bonded and insured since 2010. Every technician dispatched for door installation work is a direct employee of Pros On Call, not a subcontractor. The license number is on every invoice and verifiable through the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation.
