Chain Derailment Is the Single Most Common Slide Gate Failure
A stretched drive chain slipping off the sprocket is the leading cause of a slide gate binding or coming off the track. Worn V-groove rollers, a bent or debris-filled track, and a misaligned guide roller each produce the same symptom from a different starting point, which is why a technician checks the whole drive system rather than just pushing the gate back on. Debris accumulation, especially the fine clay silt common across Texas, is the single leading cause of sliding gate malfunctions, and routine service includes sweeping the track and lubricating wheels and rollers with a silicone or lithium grease rather than an oil that attracts more grit.

It sucks they charge an inconvenience fee of 49.00. Which I wish you would have mentioned this on our intial call. Transparency would have been to say hey we charge an inconvenience fee. Never once was this mentioned. When we spoke with the representative all she said was the locksmith will call you with a price. Never once did she say we take your payment info so we can charge you an inconvenience fee. If that was mentioned then this would have been handled differently. She made it seem like we need a card on file to help. Then they attempted to debit my card twice for two separate transactions for 49.00. I understand you run a business. But transparency is key. I specifically asked her what I would be charged for never once did she mention this. Lesson learned. Update***she reached out in regards to my Google review. Although I attempted to resolve per phone call. Shameless.

I have been a customer of pros on call for like over 2 years about and have had to call on them about 6 times. I had Zach come out to the property that I purchased out in Luling, Texas. It’s about 10 acres, and it has a garage with a corroded lock. Out of all the companies I have called, which is roughly 5 to 6. He was able to take my call, head out the next day, and take care of the corroded lock I need fixed on my property. How do I get my sliding gate back on track?
A steel slide gate panel weighs several hundred pounds, and levering it back onto its V-groove wheels without fixing why it derailed usually means it comes off again within days. The common causes are worn or flat-spotted wheels, rocks or debris packed in the track, a vehicle tap, or a section of track lifted by ground movement. A technician identifies which of these caused the derailment, reseats the gate on its wheels, and corrects the underlying cause, often the same visit.
Why does my sliding gate keep coming off the track?
Repeat derailment points to a root cause rather than bad luck. The usual suspects are a bent or heaved track section, often from Texas clay soil movement pushing the anchoring concrete out of level, worn wheel grooves that no longer grip the rail, a missing or damaged guide roller at the top of the gate, or a gate frame that has racked out of square. Why does my gate grind or scrape when it opens?
Grinding is metal telling you a bearing has failed. A wheel and bearing swap now is a cheap fix. Ignoring the grind side loads the operator's drive gear, and what started as a small repair turns into a motor replacement. Can a bent gate track be repaired or does it have to be replaced?
It depends on the extent of the damage.
