WHY NEW BRAUNFELS KNOWS US

German heritage. River tourism. Hill Country growth. I-35 corridor.

New Braunfels is one of the fastest-growing cities in Texas, adding residents from both Austin and San Antonio while sustaining a tourism economy built on Schlitterbahn, Gruene Hall, and the Comal and Guadalupe rivers. That combination creates lock and door demands - vacation rental access control, historic property restoration, rapid new-construction garage door service - that require a technician who knows the city, not just the I-35 corridor.

Gruene vacation rentals and Comal River tubing STRs

The Gruene Historic District and Comal River corridor have high concentrations of short-term vacation rentals. Physical key handoffs create friction and security gaps between guests. We install keypad and app-controlled smart locks - August, Schlage Encode, Yale Assure - that allow unique access codes per booking with automatic expiration. STR owners in New Braunfels who manage properties remotely from Austin or San Antonio rely on us for same-day installation and follow-up support. Schlitterbahn season (April through September) and Wurstfest (late October) create the heaviest demand spikes.

German heritage architecture and historic locks

New Braunfels was founded in 1845 by German immigrants, and the Sophienburg Hill area, Gruene Historic District, and downtown core contain structures from the late 1800s with original mortise locks, skeleton key cylinders, and heavy timber frames that require specialized technique. Standard hardware-store solutions do not fit. We source period-compatible hardware, restore original mortise mechanisms, and upgrade security without compromising the architectural character that makes these properties valuable. This is specialized work most locksmiths decline.

Rapid growth: Vintage Oaks, Veramendi, and new construction

New Braunfels ranks among the fastest-growing cities in the United States, with Vintage Oaks, Veramendi, and Solms adding thousands of homes. New construction brings new garage doors and smart lock installations at high volume. Hill Country limestone soil causes foundation movement that shifts frames and misaligns tracks within the first few years - a common issue in Comal County that we account for in every install and service call. We stock heavy-duty springs rated for the thermal expansion cycle of Texas Hill Country summers.

I-35 commuter city: Austin and San Antonio overlap

New Braunfels sits exactly between Austin (50 miles north) and San Antonio (30 miles south) on I-35. Many residents commute to both metros, and emergency calls come from both directions. We dispatch from whichever corridor technician is closest, giving New Braunfels faster response than a single-location competitor anchored in either metro. We also serve the US-281 corridor toward Blanco and the FM-306 route toward Canyon Lake, covering the full Comal County geography.

Response times by New Braunfels zone

All times are median estimates. I-35 construction and Schlitterbahn or Wurstfest weekend traffic can add 10-15 minutes to city-core calls. FM-306 during Canyon Lake summer weekends runs slow. We give you a real ETA when you call.

  • I had Zach come out to the property that I purchased out in Luling, Texas. It’s about 10 acres, and it has a garage with a corroded lock. Out of all the companies I have called, which is roughly 5 to 6. He was able to take my call, head out the next day, and take care of the corroded lock I need fixed on my property. He was extremely professional and helped me by giving me instructions on how to operate the lock as well! I’m in the military and not able to be in the area, so he was very understanding and professional. Highly recommend!

  • Highly recommend working with Joshua! I called around and spoke with several locksmiths before deciding, and what stood out here was the combination of clear communication and professionalism from start to finish! Joshua showed up in a branded company vehicle with a fully set up mobile workstation (pic included), walked me through exactly what would be done, and even took the time to explain how the key works and how to replace the battery myself in the future on my Toyota. The work itself was quick and smooth! Both keys were tested in front of me (locks and ignition), and everything worked perfectly. They even replaced the battery in my original key at no charge and provided an extra battery. Great experience from start to finish — would absolutely use them again.

  • Their response time was great. Orlando did a great job. No replacement parts were needed and repairs took an hour. I was badly disappointed at the high bill, even with a military discount. Maybe that is why I couldn’t get an approximate estimate before Orlando came. Bottom line : good work, too expensive

NEW BRAUNFELS SERVICE QUESTIONS

Common questions about New Braunfels service

How quickly can you reach me in Gruene or downtown New Braunfels?

Gruene Historic District and downtown New Braunfels are both reachable in approximately 30-35 minutes from our nearest I-35 corridor dispatch. The Gruene area - home to Gruene Hall, Texas's oldest continuously operating dance hall, and the Gruene Road corridor along the Guadalupe River - is one of our most common New Braunfels call zones. Tourism traffic around Gruene Hall and Gruene Market Days on weekends can add 5-10 minutes; we account for that in the ETA we give you. For addresses in Vintage Oaks, Veramendi, and River Chase further west on FM-306 or SH-46, expect 35-45 minutes. We dispatch from whichever direction has a technician closest to your address - San Antonio (30 miles south) or Austin (50 miles north). License License #B19847.

I have a vacation rental near Schlitterbahn or the Comal River - can you install keyless entry for guests?

Yes, and this is one of the most common requests we handle in New Braunfels. Short-term rentals along the Comal River tubing corridor, near Schlitterbahn Waterpark on Landa Street, and throughout the Gruene area benefit significantly from keypad or app-based smart locks. No physical key handoff required, unique access codes per guest booking, and automatic code expiration after checkout. We install and configure August Smart Lock Pro, Schlage Encode Plus, Yale Assure Lock 2, and Kwikset Halo for STR owners throughout Comal County. The Schlitterbahn corridor draws hundreds of thousands of visitors annually, and STR density is high - we recommend locks that handle frequent code cycling without hardware wear. We also handle access control for multi-unit vacation properties managed from out of town. License License #B19847.

Do you work on historic properties in the Gruene neighborhood and Sophienburg Hill area?

Yes. New Braunfels was founded in 1845 by German immigrants under Prince Carl of Solms-Braunfels, and the Gruene neighborhood and Sophienburg Hill area contain structures from the late 1800s and early 1900s with original period hardware. These homes often have antique mortise locks, skeleton key cylinders, and door frames with unique dimensions not accommodated by standard off-the-shelf hardware. We handle mortise lock restoration, period-appropriate hardware sourcing, and security upgrades - adding modern deadbolts or smart locks without altering the door's original character. The Sophienburg Museum area and downtown New Braunfels historic district have properties requiring this specialized approach. We balance security needs with preservation expectations. License License #B19847.

My garage door spring broke in Vintage Oaks or Veramendi - can you come today?

Yes. Spring failures in Vintage Oaks, Veramendi, Solms, and throughout Comal County qualify for same-day dispatch. New Braunfels sits at the edge of the Hill Country where summer temperatures regularly exceed 100 degrees Fahrenheit, and the limestone-rich soil causes foundation movement that stresses garage door tracks and frames over time. Torsion springs weaken 20-30 percent faster in this thermal range than in cooler climates. Vintage Oaks and Veramendi are two of New Braunfels's fastest-growing residential communities - both are on our standard dispatch route from the I-35 corridor. We carry springs for all major door manufacturers on the truck and carry heat-resistant springs rated for Hill Country summers. You get a firm quote before we touch the door. No surprise fees. License License #B19847.

Are you available during Wurstfest and other peak tourism weekends?

Yes - 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, including Wurstfest. Wurstfest is a 10-day German heritage festival held annually in late October and early November at Landa Park, drawing tens of thousands of visitors to New Braunfels. Tourism peaks around Wurstfest, Gruene Market Days (held the first complete weekend of each month), Comal River tubing season (May through September), and Schlitterbahn's operating season create real demand spikes. Rental properties turn over rapidly, vacation renters lock themselves out, and hospitality businesses need commercial lock service on compressed timelines. We do not charge a premium for holiday weekends or festival periods. Standard rates apply at 2 a.m. the same as 2 p.m. If you manage rental properties that need rekeying between Wurstfest-season bookings, we offer volume pricing for 5 or more units. License License #B19847.

Do you serve River Chase, Mission Hill, and the I-35 corridor neighborhoods?

Yes. River Chase, Mission Hill, Loma Vista Hills, Rivermont, and Comal Heights are all within our regular New Braunfels service area. River Chase is a master-planned community with a mix of new construction and established homes along the Guadalupe River - garage door spring failures and smart lock installs are both common there. Mission Hill and Loma Vista Hills sit along I-35 between the city core and the San Antonio metro, putting them on our fastest response corridor. For addresses along I-35 closer to the Comal-Guadalupe county line, we dispatch from whichever direction - San Antonio or Austin - has a technician available. We also serve the Canyon Lake corridor via FM-306 and the Solms community via SH-46 west. License License #B19847.
