COMMERCIAL LOCKSMITH QUESTIONS
Do you work with property managers and facility teams?
Yes. We coordinate directly with property managers, facility directors, and building engineers across Austin. We schedule around tenant occupancy, provide written work summaries, and invoice to the company or management entity. License License #B19847. Call (888) 601-6005 to set up an account.
What commercial hardware grades do you install?
We install ANSI Grade 1 commercial-duty deadbolts, mortise locksets, cylindrical knob and lever hardware, and exit devices rated for commercial door weights and traffic volumes. Brands include Schlage Commercial, Medeco, Mul-T-Lock, and Von Duprin. Hardware selection depends on door material, fire-rating requirements, and traffic volume.
Can you set up a master key system for a multi-tenant building?
Yes. We design master key hierarchies for multi-tenant commercial buildings, apartment complexes, office campuses, and retail centers. A master key system can have two to five levels: tenant key, suite master, building master, and grand master. We document the key control matrix and provide change-key records. Most medium-sized buildings take one to two visits to complete.
How does commercial rekeying work after tenant turnover?
Tenant turnover rekeying changes the internal pin tumblers in every affected suite lock so that the outgoing tenant's keys no longer operate. We rekey to the new tenant's key blank or to a temporary construction key, then rekey again at move-in. This costs less than hardware replacement and resets access completely. Same-day scheduling is available for most Austin-area properties.
What after-hours commercial service is available?
We answer the phone around the clock. After-hours commercial service covers lockouts, broken locks on occupied premises, damaged panic hardware, and access-control failures. Response time in Central Austin is approximately 14 minutes median. We serve the Domain, Downtown, South Congress, and East Austin corridors, plus Round Rock and Cedar Park business parks. Call (888) 601-6005 and a live dispatcher answers.
Do you handle ADA-compliant hardware for commercial doors?
Yes. We install lever handles, low-force closers, and push-pull exit devices that meet ADA force and clearance requirements. If a door does not currently comply, we assess the latch hardware, door closer, and threshold, then provide a written recommendation before any work begins.
What is the difference between rekeying and rekeying to a master key system?
Standard rekeying changes one lock so that only the new key works. Rekeying to a master key system means we pin each cylinder so that it opens with its own change key AND with one or more master keys above it in the hierarchy. The cylinder internals are modified to accept two distinct shear lines instead of one. This is why master key systems cost more than standalone rekeying: each cylinder requires extra pin stacks and a documented key-cut chart to keep the system from going out of control as you add cylinders over time.
Do you service panic hardware on fire-rated doors?
Yes. We install and service exit devices on fire-rated assemblies including hollow-metal frames, solid-core wood doors rated up to 90 minutes, and wire-glass sidelights. We verify that the device is listed for the door rating and that the hardware does not require a cylinder or trim that would compromise the listing. In Texas, work on fire-rated assemblies falls under our license License #B19847. We provide a work record that identifies the door rating, device model, and installation date for your AHJ file.
Can you integrate access control with an existing master key system?
Yes, and it is more common than people expect. The typical approach is an electrified mortise or cylindrical lockset at the door that needs both mechanical key override and electronic credential access. The mechanical side stays on your existing master key hierarchy. The electronic side connects to your access control system. We have done this on multi-tenant office buildings where the property manager needs card access at the building entry and master-key access at individual suites. We coordinate with your access control vendor or handle both sides if you do not have one.
Need keys that cannot be copied without your authorization? Pros On Call installs a proprietary restricted keyway system using GMS MX blanks available only through us. No big-box, no other locksmith can duplicate without written authorization. Learn about Restricted Keyway
