What is the difference between rekeying and replacing a lock?
Rekeying changes the internal pin tumblers so that only a new key operates the lock. The hardware stays the same. Lock replacement installs new hardware entirely. Rekey when the hardware is in good condition and you want to change who has access. Replace when the hardware is damaged, worn, or you want a security upgrade.
Can you install smart locks at my Austin home?

How long does a deadbolt installation take?

Do I need to rekey after moving into a new house?
Yes, and we recommend doing it within the first week. You do not know how many copies of the original keys exist -- prior owners, neighbors, contractors, real estate agents, and cleaners may all have copies. Rekeying is $75 to $125 per cylinder and takes about 30 minutes for a typical house. We carry the most common pin sizes on the van.
Can you add a smart lock to my existing deadbolt?
In most cases we can replace your existing deadbolt with a smart lock that fits the same door prep. Common brands we install include Schlage Encode, Kwikset SmartCode, and Yale Assure. If your door has a non-standard prep or a double-cylinder deadbolt, we assess it on-site and recommend the best fit.
